It has a distressed look so the table top is not completely smooth - you'll need to lay down a writing pad to hand write. 24" depth is good for monitor and keyboard. Color is closer to photos where the table is darker (and not photos where the table looks almost gray). Table can be placed in L-shape or 180 degrees against a wall.
