I love this bed, works with our coastal decor very well. This is the 2nd time I buy one (used also in a vacation rental). Very well made and sturdy. Arrived early and was easy to install. Highly recommend. NOTE - might have implied that you do not need a box spring, but you do (especially if you have a memory foam mattress). I recommend a 4" profile box spring, or 1 piece of plywood. I used the plywood because the box spring would take the mattress higher than I want, not to mention that it would also cover more of the headboard (which is the best part of the bed design).. Ellie. We couldn't be happier with our new bed. We let the bed reach it's full height for 24 hours before sleeping on it. The first night I slept on it I woke up three times and was in some pain. But, I knew it was because this bed was realigning my spine. After the first night's issues I now sleep completely through the night and wake up very rested. The bed's mattress cover that comes with the bed covers all sides and has a zipper so that it can be removed for washing. I knew I didn't want to be doing that so I bought a cover made for memory foam cool technology beds. It is very thin terry cloth with a breathable moisture wicking back. You shouldn't use a regular mattress cover on this bed as the memory foam won't function correctly and the cool gel can't do it's job. A mattress cover needs to be very breathable in order for this mattress to do it's job and to not be hot to sleep on. Just thought I would mention this since some reviews have been about the bed being hot. It's not hot with the right cover. In fact it is wonderfully cool.
