We are very pleased with this purchase. The bed is as described, and exceeded my expectations. At this price, I was afraid that it would be flimsy, but it is very sturdy. I wanted a solid wood bed with no veneers and this is it! It didn't take my husband long to put it together. There were not enough screws for every slat, so he went to our workshop and got some more. It may have a been fine without doing that, but we wanted to insure no squeaky sounds from slats not being screwed down. The Joss & Main Aleja bed arrived well packed with no damage and looks exactly like the picture. We had box springs but it made the mattress too high against the headboard. We added a bunky board and the mattress height is exactly where it should be. We have a Beautyrest Black mattress which is 10" high and fills the frame right to the edges. I love this bed, works with our coastal decor very well. This is the 2nd time I buy one (used also in a vacation rental). Very well made and sturdy. Arrived early and was easy to install. Highly recommend. NOTE - might have implied that you do not need a box spring, but you do (especially if you have a memory foam mattress). I recommend a 4" profile box spring, or 1 piece of plywood.
