It is a pretty wool rug but it is thin and much darker in person than the photo depicts. I thought I was getting a beige/greige rug but this is definitely more on the darker grey side. Was glad I trusted the other reviews. Rug is luxurious with regard to the colour, the texture, the thickness, and the quality of the wool. No smell when unrolled. Colour is between a light and medium grey and is beautiful. Backing of the rug shows blue but no blue tones in the grey. It’s a pure grey (no brown tones either). This is a beautiful, great quality rug. My only regret is that it snags relatively easily. With two cats in the house this is a problem.
