It is a pretty wool rug but it is thin and much darker in person than the photo depicts. I thought I was getting a beige/greige rug but this is definitely more on the darker grey side. It feels soft underfoot and we have it on top of a thick pad from JM. It feels very natural and I vacuumed it once with a normal amount of fibers coming up, and not much the second time.
