I bought this hoping my adjustable frame would fit in it and with some modifications, it did! We removed the brackets on the inside headboard and footboard as well as the pieces on the inside of the sides of the frame. That allowed just enough movement for our adjustable frame to move freely. I love this bed, works with our coastal decor very well. This is the 2nd time I buy one (used also in a vacation rental). Very well made and sturdy. Arrived early and was easy to install. Highly recommend. NOTE - might have implied that you do not need a box spring, but you do (especially if you have a memory foam mattress). I recommend a 4" profile box spring, or 1 piece of plywood. The Joss & Main Aleja bed arrived well packed with no damage and looks exactly like the picture. We had box springs but it made the mattress too high against the headboard. We added a bunky board and the mattress height is exactly where it should be. We have a Beautyrest Black mattress which is 10" high and fills the frame right to the edges. Not even two years and my Asel queen bed frame has either cracked or completely snapped in two places. The fabric is nice, esthetic is nice, but frame rim where slats connect is brittle. When putting this together I thought this was going to be a tough bed with the metal mid supports and the way the pieces all bolt together but was wrong. With the cost of the frame this should have been made with a harder wood and tougher anchors. The rim uses what looks like drywall screws. A bed shouldn’t break from rotating your body. I love the linen fabric and color; it was exactly what we wanted. However, the photo does not show that there is a 20" gap so your box spring & mattress would have to measure at least that to hide that gap. We returned it because we have a low profile mattress.
